Asleep

I was asleep in the back seat
When I woke up in the middle of a bad dream
It was real it was concrete
When my body hit the ground
It brought me to my knees

It was an accident I know
Just a poorly timed blink
How fragile can we be?
There’s someone looking over us you say
How else did we walk away?
I wonder the same

I got up when the smoke cleared
I looked into the sky, nothing appeared
Where’s my God, where’s my energy?
I want something to hold, something to believe

But please don’t try to save me in the street

We don’t need to agree

But I don’t understand how you can be so certain

A moment later and we would have crashed head on
No one would survive
