The Crown of a Thousand Suns

From every corner of the earth
The caravans arrived as one
Crossing deserts, seas and mountains
Guided by a distant Sun

Kings and scholars filled the roads
Bearing gifts of gold and flame
Seeking answers from the throne
Whispering my growing name

Every voice became an echo
Every echo fed the fire
And the higher rose the tower
The stronger grew desire

Wearing the crown of a thousand suns
Brighter than the morning sky
Yet even stars that rule the heavens
Forget that they can die

The lady from the southern sands
Came to test the tales she'd heard
Bringing riddles wrapped in mystery
Hidden inside every word

Question after question fell
Like arrows from a distant bow
And every one was answered
With a certainty I'd come to know

Wearing the crown of a thousand suns
Watching the world below
Every answer, every wonder
Flowing through my soul

If I have reached the highest mountain
Why do I still climb?

If all the roads now lead to me
What lies beyond this height?

The mirror shows a king of glory
The world sees endless light
But somewhere in the reflection
A shadow leaves its mark tonight

Another journey had begun
