Little Steps

Where do you get your ideas from?
I just sit back and anger comes
I know the well will not run dry
It’s never been in short supply

I want to disappear
Just a little bit
Like i was never here
Retreat in little steps

I’d like to be much more profound
But inspiration’s all around
It’s at your door, it’s like it hears
It’s in their eyes, it’s in your ears

With little steps they take the land
You want to fight, too tired to stand
You hope that reason will prevail
You want to try but know you’ll fail
So end up stepping back yourself
The compromise, the creeping stealth
Surrender seems like much less strife
It burns you up this quiet life
