Promises Made To The Earth

The old man led the way
Down a road lined by graves
To a city that lay in flames
Oaths of blood can't be washed away

Howling ghosts line the road
Warning me not to follow
Certain death 'ere I go
But there's something that I must know

Promises made to the earth
Etched into me since birth
I must honour them first
Or forever be cursed
